Ford sold 72K EVs in 2023 and 25K of those only in Q4, 2 million vehicle sales combined
Ford today announced the business results of 2023 including record electric vehicle (EV) sales of 72k EVs throughout the past year.
In terms of numbers, Ford sold 72,608 EVs in 2023 with a 18% year-on-year increase compared to 2022. In the fourth quarter, the company reported 25,937 EVs with a massive 24% quarter-on-quarter improvement.
This growth is led by the EV truck F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E sales with a combined bout of 40,771 units for 2023. Among these, F-150 Lighting improved sales by 74% in the last quarter. Furthermore, Ford’s E-Transit sold 7,672 increased by 18% year-on-year from 2022.
Other than that, Ford reported a total of 37,229 hybrid vehicles in Q4 with 55% increase compared to the same quarter from a year earlier.
In the hybrid truck section, Maverick Hybrid sales accounted for 52,361 units and the F-150 Hybrid posted gains of 41% over a year ago.
Overall, Ford recorded a total sales of 1,995,912 vehicles in 2023 with a 7.1 annual improvement compared to 2022. The automaker says this performance is the best since 2020.
Ford expects that the new F-150, Range, Explorer, Expedition, Lincoln Aviator, Navigator, and Nautilus will explore more growth in the new year.
“Now we are spring-loaded for 2024 with new versions coming off our most popular trucks and SUVs, a full year of new Super Duty and Mustang, and a big year for Lincoln,” said Jim Farley, Ford president and CEO.
