Tesla steps into Gigafactory Nevada expansion for Semi and 4680 cell production

Tesla is finally stepping into Nevada Gigafactory expansion with a $3.6 billion investment, which aims to increase the production of Tesla Semi and 4680 Cell.

Based on the drone shot footage from Tesla enthusiast Zanegler, Tesla has broken the ground on its Nevada Gigafactory site for a new production line.

Last year, Tesla indicated a plan to invest $3.6 billion at its Gigafactory Nevada facility during an on-site presentation delivered by CEO Elon Musk.

According to InsideEVs, the company would build two new factories on 4 million square feet (371,612 square meters) for a manufacturing plant to mass produce Tesla Semi trucks and 4680 cells with an annual capacity of 100GWh.

This expansion would enable enough 4680 cell production of at least 2 million light-duty vehicles per year. Moreover, it could add 6,500 additional full-time employees.

The project will allow the company to provide better supplies of both products within and outside Tesla’s hemisphere.
