EV charging company EcoG opens U.S. headquarters, will invest $14 million

German Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure firm EcoG on Tuesday announced to opening of its first headquarters in the U.S. to expand its operations. It is located in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit.

The headquarters is supported with a $1.5 million performance-based grant from the Michigan Business Development Program. EcoG was co-founded by Siemens alums Dr Joeg Heuer (CEO) and Dr Johannes Hund (CTO).

EcoG announced to invest $14.4 million and create 45 high-wage jobs for the local workforce. The company builds hardware and software solutions for interoperable EV charging stations for Siemens and ecosystem charging partners including i-charging.

EcoG has over 60 global partners and it represents around 15% market share in the European Union by the end of 2022.

“Right now there is unprecedented momentum behind the EV transition in the US. EcoG’s solutions are acting as the catalyst for manufacturers in the US making it simple to introduce American-built products into the EV charging market and transforming the EV charging landscape across the country” said Joerg.
