Tesla CEO, Elon Musk has confirmed that the company will release new software features in both March and April.

The latest reply from the Tesla chief came on a post of  X user @TimDOES asking for “any updates on progress for Vision Only Teslas”. The user was referring to the Autopark feature which was limited/disabled after the Vision update in new models.

Musk replied, “Really cool stuff coming both this month and next”. However, he didn’t reveal any specifics about the content.

Tesla Vision:

In 2021, the company announced a transition from radar to Tesla Vision, a new camera-based system for autopilot. Model 3 and Model Y completed transition in the same year followed by Model S and X in 2022.

The company also announced removing ultrasonic sensors (USS) from Model 3 and Model Y in 2022. Last year, Model S and Model X followed the same direction.

Simultaneously, the company brought a vision-based occupancy network to replace inputs generated by USS. In short, the vision-based occupancy network simulates what USS was doing.

With software updates, Autopilot has gained high-definition spatial position, long-range visibility, and object identification and differentiation capabilities.

The company is still not sure about the accuracy of the vision-based system for important features including Autopark, Summon, and Smart Summon.

Therefore, it has limited or disabled these features until the system achieves performance parity with Tesla vehicles with USS.

The EV maker planned to restore these features via over-the-air software updates. On the other hand, Tesla’s Autopilot, Enhanced Autopilot, and Full Self-Driving features remained active at delivery.

This month there will be new software updates and it may bring some improvements for the corresponding vehicles.
