Tesla Spring 2024 update features

A few days ago, Tesla announced the Spring 2024 features update and it is now rolling out (2024.12) for the first wave of eligible models. The version has new additions including the user interface, controls, and more.

The new user interface v12 brings a better visual experience of the software. The new UI includes full-screen vehicle controls in Park mode.

The UI will show large playback controls and quick access to Recents, Favorites, and Up Next in the media player. New expandable autopilot driving visualization enables a smaller map in the top right corner for trip guidance.

The drive mode strip is more sleeker and compact with improved driving readouts.

Hands Free Trunk:

This is a massive improvement for the Tesla cars and will no longer require manual opening of the rear trunk. Instead, you can stand still behind your car’s trunk with a Phone Key unobstructed. It will enable a chime sound followed by an automated trunk opening procedure.

You can start using this feature by going into Settings > Locks > Hands-Free Trunk. Make sure that your phone has “Nearby Interaction” for the Tesla app. You can verify this setting by opening the app and going to Phone Key, then tapping Upgrade.

This feature will require you to download the Tesla app version 4.31.0 or above and iPhone 11+. The electric vehicle maker company planned to release this feature to Android phones soon.

Sentry Mode Video Clip Preview:

You can immediately preview the Sentry Mode recordings directly on your phone. You need to press and hold the notification to watch the recording preview. These previews are secured with end-to-end encryption.

Make sure your vehicle has dashcam turned on. It also requires a USB drive connected to store recordings.

Trip Progress Bar:

With this upgrade, you will see a new progress bar that changes dynamically as you drive closer to your destination or next stop. The progress also indicates scenarios such as traffic.

Better route available:

Navigation will show you a faster route if any is available. It will appear at the top of your turn list. It will reroute unless you decline before the option prompt goes away.

You will need to enable this feature from Navigation > Online Routing > Reroute to save.

Wiper Controls:

You can now adjust the wiper speed by moving the left scroll wheel up or down when you press the wipers button to view wiper controls.
