Rivian is sending NACS DC adapter shipment emails to R1S and R1T owners. This charging adapter will enable Rivian R1 cars to charge on a Tesla Supercharger.
It was one of the first EV companies to enter an agreement with Tesla to access the Supercharger network for Rivian vehicles across the U.S. and Canada.
This collaboration aimed to develop a solution for Rivian vehicles to charge through Telsa chargers with an existing Combined Charging System (CCS). In that case, the EV maker announced an adapter to bridge CCS to NACS standards.
In March this year, Rivian officially launched this adapter for R1S and R1T owners free of cost. Earlier this month, EV owners shared emails to reserve a free adapter. The email has a large reservation button on the bottom with one push confirmation.
After almost 20 days, these R1 owners have started receiving shipment emails.
“Your complimentary NACS DC adapter is ready to be shipped. Please follow the link below to let us know your preferred delivery address within 60 days of receiving this email.” says the email.

Recipients can enter the shipping address and complete the delivery process. The email mentions that this NACS adapter package could not be shipped to PO Boxes or any addresses outside the US and Canada.
OLD to NEW
Some X (formerly Twitter) users are receiving a different email to the one mentioned above. These emails confirm the reservations but there’s no information about the shipment.
“We’ll be in touch to confirm your address when your adapter is ready to be shipped” Rivian emailed to these owners.
This difference in delivery could be related to a previous announcement. These adapters are prioritized based on owners’ delivery dates ranging from oldest to newest. It means that an old VIN will get the first shipment followed by the recent VINs.
However, the company said that it is working hard to meet the production and serve this adapter to customers.
