BYD SHARK hybrid pickup truck launched with 430hp, 840km range, stellar design and more

BYD launched Shark, the first BYD pickup truck at the global debut event in Mexico, it features off-road technologies and a rugged look with hybrid architecture.

The BYD Shark integrates the front face including LED contour lighting and a large suspended three-dimensional logo to enhance a distinct and characterful identity. You can see that large “BYD” symbol on the front.

The rear shows a tailgate with intuitive headlights and a taillight bar integrated into the BYD logo on the trailer. It has a 3260mm wheelbase, 5457 length, 1971 width, and 1925 height.

Smart Cabin

The interior is created by BYD interior design director Michele Jauch Paganetti. It combines the functionality of sports with modern, aesthetic, design and capabilities.

The cabin equips a 12.8-inch rotating screen and a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel. You can access the “Hi BYD” voice command system to achieve a head-up drive without using physical buttons. The system is capable of running Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

BYD’s Stingray app enables BYD SHARK owners to enjoy Karaoke. Its NFC key helps to unlock the vehicle with the touch of the mobile phone on the NFC symbol located in the review mirror.

The interior offers 50W wireless charging on the control panel. There is a 12-inch windshield projection HUD head-up display integrating vehicle speed, navigation, and ADAS features.

BYD Shark brings a 1.5-liter power engine, with 430 horsepower maximum power. It can accelerate 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. It has a 7.5 liter or 100km fuel consumption. This truck is a 5-seater with a maximum towing capacity of 2500kg, 835kg payload, and 1450L cargo volume capacity. This Shark offers three terrain modes – Sand, Mud, and Snow.

It combines an 840km range, a 100km electric range, and 30% to 80% charging in 20 minutes. Its virtual difference lock enables the intelligent torque distribution between the front and rear axles for a better off-road experience.

Structure

BYD Shark launched with Cell to Chassis (CTC) technology including the battery, which is part of the chassis structure with a structural rigidity of up to 39%. The body of this hybrid vehicle with 54% high-strength steel for optimal performance and weight reduction. It carries 6 airbags for maximum safety.

Price

BYD Shark comes in two versions – GL and GS. Both are available in three colors – Atlantis Gray, Marmara Black, and Pallas White. However, the prices differ as the GL is priced at 899980 MXN ($53,430) and 969800 MXN ($57,576) respectively.

This hybrid BYD truck is currently only available on sale in Mexico, it may expand to more countries later.
