Tesla Semi chief provides new details on commercial launch, performance and more

Tesla Semi Lead Dan Priestley has provided new details on the electric semi truck’s commercial launch and other key information at Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo.
It’s revealed that the Tesla Semi will get a commercial launch in 2026, and it’ll be produced at the new 1M sq. ft factory in Nevada with an annual production capacity of 50,000 units.
The company is planning to deploy the first phase of production into Tesla’s logistics for real-world testing, and the second phase will be delivered to customers.
The company has driven 7 million cumulative miles, including 26 Semis that surpassed 100,000 miles each.
Meanwhile, the company has made some improvements in the Semi design, including better mirrors and drop glass. The battery used in this vehicle is high-voltage, cost-efficient, provides higher range, and consumes as much of low energy as possible.
The Tesla Semi has a 1 MW charge port for superfast charging with 7.3% efficiency improvement and power output support of 25 kW AC/DC with galvanic isolation.
Tesla has selected 46 public charging sites to launch a Semi charging network infrastructure in 2027.
