AI company xAI has officially announced that its Grok voice mode is now free for all users on the Android platform around the globe starting today.

Grok voice mode is a voice-to-voice conversation feature that is part of the Grok mobile app. Allowing users to interact with the voice and even ask for information with real-time information.

Unlike a simple LLM chatbot, Grok offers different personalities called Personas, or you can add custom instructions about how the voice model should treat you back. If you would rather not do anything, tap on Today’s News button and Grok will share with the latest news from the internet and the X platform. Similar suggestion can be found on the Grok voice mode screen to help you get started with the feature.

The voice screen will also show you options to expand the search with additional topics related to the latest news. On the other hand, you can further expand the voice mode with the vision capability.

This new feature helps users to understand a scene without voice or text interactions. All you need to do is to open vision and point the camera toward the object you know about, and that’s it. Grok voice is already available for iOS users via its standalone app.
