Tesla dominates the most American-made car list for 2025, grabbing top four spots
Tesla continues to dominate the Car.com’s American-made cars index in 2025, but this year, the EV maker has grabbed four top spots. This is the second time Tesla vehicles have acquired all four spots since their debut on the index in 2020.
Before this, Model Y has remained the top-ranked vehicle for three consecutive years. This year, it is Model 3 that has the first spot, Model Y comes second, Model S and Model X have third and fourth spots, respectively. Meanwhile, the Jeep Gladiator joined the list for the fifth spot, making it the highest-ranked American-made pickup truck.
“Tesla continues to lead, claiming the top four spots and showcasing its commitment to domestic production,” said Patrick Masterson, lead researcher for Cars.com’s American-made index.
To compile this list, the Cars.com team collects data for each vehicle based on five factors, including assembly location, parts sourcing determined by the American Automobile Labeling Act, U.S. factory employment relative to vehicle production, engine sourcing, and transmission sourcing.
Tesla produces its vehicles at two major facilities. The Fremont Factory, California, is the main hub to produce Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X. The second facility is Gigafactory Texas, where it focuses on Model Y and Cybertruck.
The company has a huge local supply chain around the U.S. that produces many direct and indirect jobs, including the Nevada Gigafactory, which produces battery products and supplies them to both of the manufacturing factories.
