Tesla launches monthly Winshield Protection subscription for Model 3/Y/S/X
Tesla has launched a new winshield protection subscription plan for Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X on a monthly basis, which aims to minimize repair costs and insurance claims fatigue.
This plan covers the front windshield during an active subscription, including:
- Unlimited repairs for chips or minor cracks
- One free replacement every 12 months from the first subscription date
- You will get a $100 discount on additional replacements
Winshield Protection Plan Subscription (Source – Tesla)
The subscription varies based on the vehicle:
- Model 3/Y costs $12/month,
- Model S costs $15/month,
- Model X costs $23 per month.
Tesla vehicle owners can opt for the winshield protection plan via the mobile app: Upgrades > Service Plans and Winshield Protection. You need to tap the Subscribe button after reviewing the terms and payment information. Any eligible customers can sign up for this plan, but newly delivered vehicles may take up to 30 days after delivery.
The EV maker says its replacement service will provide customer satisfaction, comprised of proper fit, function, and safety using tested and certified parts. The service will be done by factory-trained technicians for replacement operations. Furthermore, replaced parts could receive additional coverage under Tesla’s Parts, Body, and Paint Repair limited warranty.
What’s not covered?
Though this plan covers the winshield damage but it must not be caused by the following:
- Tint, stickers, decals, or the replacement of such items
- Events occurring prior to the effective date of subscription
- Vandalism
- Cosmetic damages
- Collision
- Commercial use, including carriage of passengers for hire
- Racing or off-road driving
- Force majeure events, including but not limited to earthquakes, fire, hurricanes, floods, or lightning
- Negligence, misuse, abuse, or towing
You can also cancel the subscription by opening the Tesla app > Manage > Winshield Protection and Cancel Plan. The screen will prompt an end date of your coverage, and you can confirm your final decision via the cancel button.
