How to create xAI Grok tasks
xAI has started a wide rollout of the tasks feature, enabling Grok users to conduct automated prompts at a certain time. Once completed, Grok will send you a reminder of your task completion via Email and mobile app. However, this feature has more capabilities.
Tasks has a separate interface that you should understand to get the most out of its full potential. To access tasks, go to grok.com and see the clock icon on the left side bar. This action will redirect you to the tasks UI.
From the home screen, you can create new tasks by clicking the “Add new” button. The screen will pop up the task creator. It starts with the name field, an identifier that helps to sort it among other tasks.
Next is Schedule, you can set the task execution date for once, daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly. These schedules have some limitations, for example, free users can create 1 daily task, and the rest support up to 10 tasks. Here’s some more information:
- Once supports time clock and calendar support input.
- Daily only has a time selector
- Weekly has a day-wise input
- Monthly supports the date input
- Yearly also has a calendar and time input
The company has ensured that users get the best input method to create Grok tasks.
The prompt area is the key place for task descriptions, for example, “Send me 10 latest news items about SpaceX Starship rocket”. This is the simplest prompt, but you can type in a more complex prompt based on your preference.
To make things interesting, xAI has enabled the DeepSearch button, which will provide deeply analyzed content.
Click on the “Email + App” button to select the way you want to get informed when the task is completed. Tap on Create Task to wrap up the process.
Once created, the task will now appear on the main screen. Here you will see the scheduled time and date. But there’s still more you can do.
Tap on the scheduled task to open extra options. Now, you can select edit, pause, or test the created task. The third feature will let you test the prompt to get a demo of its actual execution.
Archive
If you no longer want to receive tasks, tap on the dust bin button on the top side near the close icon. This task will be available in the archived tab and can be updated for reuse.
Remember, all of the iterative tasks repeat on the scheduled date except for once. You will have to archive the tasks in order to stop receiving notifications.
