Tesla is expanding Robotaxi ride invitations to more users
Tesla has started expanding the Robotaxi invitations to more users to experience autonomous ride-hailing taxis and to gather user feedback. Recepients posted their invitations on the social media site X, confirming that they’re eligible to ride Tesla’s robotaxi in Austin, Texas.
A week ago, Tesla sent the first wave of invitations for a bunch of testers and invited them to experience the initial rides on June 22 in Austin. The company is allowed to do these services on Model Y, which is packed with a vision system.
During the testing phase, Tesla is monitoring the car’s actions via its employee sitting on the right side of the front row. However, the driver’s seat is unoccupied because the vehicle is loaded with unsupervised FSD.

Tesla is known for electric vehicles (EVs), but its autonomous driving aspect enables public customers to use only the supervised version. Therefore, the unspervised FSD is currently available with robotaxi, which has worked quite well since the launch day.
The EV maker is allowed to drive Robotaxis in a geofenced area in Austin, and based on CEO Elon Musk’s previous statement, the company may be operating 10-20 Robotaxis to facilitate current users. However, an expansion will depend on the robotaxi’s performance and public safety.
Testers are provided with early access to the Robotaxi app, which helps them to pinpoint their ride, start journey, sync their account information, including playlists and other vehicle settings, and make a payment. Users can know about the ride ETA via live activity on their iPhone’s lock screen.
Furthermore, early access riders will get Robotaxi access with a $4.20 flat fee regardless of the distance.
