Next version will be Grok 4 and not 3.5, confirms xAI founder

Elon Musk, Founder and CEO of xAI, announced that the next version will be called Grok 4 and not 3.5. This new model is widely speculated to have been released in the past month, but new improvements and reasoning keep pushing its launch date.
“Grinding on @Grok all night with the @xAI team. Good progress. Will be called Grok 4.” He posted this update on the social media site.
Grok is an AI model, that offers humorous replies with different personas to provide a new user experience. Grok can conduct text-to-text, text-to-image, and voice-to-voice conversations via mobile and web platforms. After its launch in 2023, the xAI team has made many new improvements in this chatbot to provide useful tools while enhancing performance.
Earlier this year, the company introduced its Memphis supercomputer cluster with Grok 3‘s release. It was trained the new model with more than 200,000 Nvidia GPUs for maximized reasoning capabilities. The new model supports features such as DeepSearch, DeeperSearch, and Think, which provide a detailed and in-depth breakdown of each user prompt.
Now, Grok users aren’t happy with its replies. The reason behind this discomfort is its use of unverified and unknown sources. Musk found a new solution to the problem, which will enable Grok to generate answers based on real-time facts and not on generated reports with unverified information.
To put this solution into effect, xAI has announced that Grok 3.5 (now 4) is being built with first-principle reasoning capabilities. Unlike traditional AI models with pattern matching, the new Grok will focus on delivering answers by reasoning from fundamental principles.
This approach will reduce reliance on inaccurate or incomplete information from online sources. Improved reasoning will also reduce hallucinations, which is one of the major areas of improvement in the current Grok version.
Musk said that the closest Grok 4 launch could be July 4th, but we won’t be surprised if this date pushes forward.
