With the release of Grok 4, xAI developers have not only introduced improved reasoning for the text model but also made some new upgrades to voice mode.

Voice mode is a natural voice conversation feature within Grok, allowing users to speak to the AI for an improved user experience. With Grok 4, developers are targeting to boost natural conversation flow and snappy behavior.

One of the major upgrade in voice is predicting the stoppage behavior by adapting the type of conversation from the first sentence. This helps the AI to anticipate the next word with lowest possibility for interruption.

The xAI team also shared a comparison of the new voice mode improvement against ChatGPT voice during the live stream. And it pretty much performed as presumed by the demonstrators.

The demo reveals that Grok voice has been calm and clear, while ChatGPT was in rush to catch the next phrase. The new improvement is achieved with 2 times faster end-to-end latency and 10 times daily user seconds.

On top of the new improvements, the latest improvement comes with a new voice – Eve. This female voice has a British accent and soothing tone. It supports new prompts and you can use it along with another new male voice – Sal on the mobile app. With these two additions, Grok is now serving 5 voices to users.
