Tesla has announced the new Model Y L variant with six seats for those who want a little more space in their vehicle to house more passengers. Here’s what you should know about this new electric vehicle (EV) and how it differs from the existing five-seat version.

First of all, Model Y L has the same design with added new optimizations, including a new spoiler, modified rear/C-pillar and a new gold exterior paint. Another notable change is the new Model Y L branding on the rear side, which has a subtle touch. A major change in appearance is related to the wheels, these are rebranded for a better look.

Coming to some specifications, the vehicle has six seats, and we’ve heard such rumors and reports about a China-specific model that has been in the making for more than a year. However, it has finally stepped out of the shadow and revealed itself.

The Model Y L has 4,605 lbs (2,088kg) curb weight, which is 209 lbs (94kg) more than the existing Model Y. This new model increases 7 inches in length, while the overall measurement reaches 196 inches (4976mm). Additionally, the Model Y L has a 1.7-inch height advantage over the current Model Y and a 6-inch longer wheelbase.

Its approach angle is 16-degree and departure angle is 18-degrees. The tires are 255/45R19 for front wheels and 275/45R19 for rear.

The current leaked model via the Chinese certification ministry has revealed a dual-motor all wheel drive (AWD) variant with max power output of 142kW and 198 kW for front and rear motros respectively.
