OpenAI’s ChatGPT agent mode is now available to all Pro users and soon it will expand to other paid susbcribers. Plus and Team users were also expected to get agent mode alongside Pro users but the AI firm says the high demand has delayed this expansion to no earlier than Monday.

The agent mode enables you to conduct online tasks via instructions, for example, planning and buying groceries for today’s lunch. It is using OpenAI’s agentic system that combines Operators to navigate on the web and deep research to curate information. ChatGPT uses its own virtual computer to conduct these tasks while keeping the user updated with on-screen narration for each task it performs.

Users can find this new addition under the tools dropdown from the composer, which will be visible under agent mode. It works like a regular text-to-text conversation, all you to need to is to describe the task to trigger the chatbot to act accordinly.

Users can interrupt any tasks the agent mode is performing at any time throughout its activity. Through connectors, the AI can access your workflow and important files and use them to complete your queries. Moreover, you can schedule completed tasks to repeat them automatically.

Besides its worldwide access, OpenAI has confirmed that ChatGPT agent mode is still under preparation for European launch.
