Tesla releases Model Y front trunk lighting upgrade
Tesla has listed the front trunk lighting upgrade for Model Y electric vehicle, allowing you to get higher visibility in a dark environment while storing or retrieving items from the storage.
This new accessory is available at $100 on the official Tesla store, and users can apply it by themselves with the vehicle’s power supply without requiring an additional battery.
How to install
Open the hood, release the clips that attach the access panel to the frunk, and then pull the panel away from the vehicle. Now, disconnect the emergency release switch connector.
Remove the adhesive backing from the front trunk lighting module, and then install the module to the area indicated in the image. First ensure that it is properly oriented as shown. Once aligned, apply pressure along the module to ensure it is adhered to the access panel.
Connect the vehicle harness die connector, the front trunk lighting module connector, and the emergency release switch connector. Align the guide tabs and install the clips that attach the access panel to the frunk.
Press the emergency release switch and make sure that there is an audible click. Repeat this step to ensure that there is a click after each press. Use a plastic trim tool to open the front trunk seal, and then insert the front trunk lighting strip in a clockwise direction. Make sure the strip is snug to the inside of the seal.
