SpaceX restored Starlink service outage that lasted 3 hours
Earlier today, Starlink experienced a network outage, which lasted for more than 3 hours before being restored by the company. The outage was a result of a technological error.
“Starlink is currently in a network outage, and we are actively implementing a solution. We appreciate your patience.” The company wrote on X after the service outage.
After finding the issues, the Starlink team patched and resolved the outage and restored the service. The company posted another update on the social media platform, apologizing for the inconvenience.
Michael Nicolls, VP of Starlink Engineering, revealed more details about the issue that caused the outage. He said that the outage was due to failure of key internal software services that operate the core network.
“We apologize for the temporary disruption in our service; we are deeply committed to providing a highly reliable network, and will fully root cause this issue and ensure it does not occur again,” Michael posted on X.
The VP claimed that the service outage lasted for more than 2.5 hours but users differs that the outage was more than 3 hours.
Elon Musk, Founder and CEO of SpaceX has also reacted to the entire scenario and promised that a remedy will surely be applied to fix the root cause of the issue and ensure that it will not “happen again”.

Starlink is the world’s largest satellite constellation that resides in low Earth orbit to provide broadband internet service for customers. Customers with Starlink terminal can access the internet for streaming, online gaming and video calling from remote areas without any traditional mobile service.
As of July, SpaceX is hosting more than 2.7 million active Starlink users across the globe. The service can provide download speeds of 100Mbps for personal users, and the speed goes to 200Mbps peak.
