xAI Grok getting Imagine feature for video generation with sound
xAI is bringing a major update to the Grok AI chatbot with Imagine, a brand-new feature that allows users to generate instant images and generative videos. Grok uses the Aurora model to generate realistic visuals, and Imagine may have upgraded this model to power the latest capability.
Early leaks show that Imagine will get a dedicated tab in the app or on the web platform, besides the text conversation. The two specific tabs will be “Ask” and “Imagine.” Users can go back and forth between the two tabs for ease of access.
The Imagine tab will have pre-generated images and videos for exploration, but interested users will get a full creative choice with manual controls. For example, you can input a prompt to create an image or a video, just like the existing Grok model, or use voice to explain your generation command.
Grok will create four variations of the result. For example, users will see four videos in the results, so you can choose the one that you like the most. What’s more interesting is that these videos are tagged with background sounds, and each will be different. However, we’ll have to verify whether these video characters can get a voiceover.
On-screen controls
Results come with some on-screen options, including a favorite button and an option to download or share the image or video online. Users can also redo the clip generation with the Redo button and select a preset mode of generation, including Spicy, Fun, and Normal.
Infinite scroll
Meanwhile, Imagine will have plenty of variations below, and users can scroll through to check these recommendations.
BREAKING 🚨: Grok Imagine will have almost instant realtime image gen!
It generates images literally as you scroll. Also an example of a “spicy” preset for video gen. https://t.co/k4it7oJtW1 pic.twitter.com/zRhyK0BxV9

Launch
Elon Musk, founder and CEO of xAI, has said that Imagine will let users create instant viral videos, and it appears that he was right. However, we’ll have to wait for xAI to launch the Grok Imagine feature and see how it works.
The one thing that is confirmed, which is the waitlist, is that the initial access will only be limited to waitlist users.
