Google Genie 3, an advanced world-building AI model, has received attention from xAI CEO Elon Musk, who also revealed plans to launch a competitor.

Genie 3 is a state-of-the-art world model that generates interactive 3d environments from text prompts. The result allows users to navigate through these generated models at 24 frames per second with improvements over the Genie 2 and 720p resolution.

Musk said Tesla has already had Genie 3 real-time world generation for a few years.

“Used for creating unusual training examples (eg, near head-on collisions), where even 8 million vehicles in the field need supplemental data, especially as our cars get safer and dangerous situations become very rare.” Musk commented on a post by Jim Fan, Nvidia’s director of robotics, who praised Genie 3.

Tesla uses world mapping and rendering for its Full Self Driving (FSD). The onboard computer processes camera input in real time, and the rendering engine shows it to the user on the center screen. This experience could help the company achieve advanced game world generation.

The xAI chief said that Grok will have real-time world generation in 2 months, highlighting a competitive race in AI development.

xAI CEO, Elon Musk, said a rival to Google Genie 3 will be released in 2 months

His statement also underscores Grok’s recent advancements with Imagine, a new video generation feature, which has been making significant strides in creating dynamic, interactive digital content, as reflected in his posts.

Musk’s xAI keeps on increasing its computing power and training new video generation models to improve its real-time generation capabilities. The company has already shared intentions to enter the gaming industry, with Grok will be able to generate and understand game features.
