OpenAI CEO blames xAI for promoting Elon Musk’s posts

OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman, has hit back at the xAI CEO, Elon Musk, for promoting his companies, including Tesla, and suppressing competitors’ posts on the social media platform X.

Earlier today, Musk criticised Apple for prioritizing ChatGPT on the App Store and keeping his company’s application, including X and Grok, out of the number one spot. He also suggested that xAI will sue Apple for this “unequivocal antitrust violation.”.

However, Altman posted a link for an article from two years ago, claiming that Musk is the one who’s doing this on his social media site in the first place.

“This is a remarkable claim given what I have heard alleged that Elon does to manipulate X to benefit himself and his own companies and harm his competitors and people he doesn’t like,” wrote Altman on X while quoting Musk’s initial post about Apple.

This post from Altman has received widespread attention from X users, who pointed out that the article is very old. Some of them found that the article cited as proof that Musk is showing his posts above all is written by an OpenAI affiliate.

Head of X also jumped into the conversation, saying that ChatGPT is also suppressing X’s redirection links and marking them as “unsafe”.
