Tesla Robotaxi will automatically unlock as you walk up
Tesla has cooked a new update for its Robotaxi app, which will automatically unlock the autonomous vehicle when you approach it. This new feature is added for early Robotaxi testers with app version 25.8.5, released today via the TestFlight app.
After the upgrade, the ordered Robotaxi vehicle will arrive locked and will automatically unlock as you walk up. However, this feature requires you to enable Bluetooth on your iPhone.
Tesla is currently operating its autonomous Robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, inside a geofenced area, which has recently expanded. The service is initially available through an invite mechanism, and a full release for the public is expected to happen next month.
These invited users are provided an early version Robotaxi app and are used to search available areas to order a ride. The app has a clean user interface, and existing Tesla owners can synchronize their account information, such as billing details, for a seamless experience.
Recently, the EV maker has also launched a ride-hailing service for early users in the Bay Area, but this is only featuring the supervised FSD with a safety driver on the front seat due to a pending full autonomous driving permit.
Meanwhile, the company keeps on sending new invites for Robotaxi users.
