Anthropic Claude gets nearby location finder on mobile app

Anthropic is rolling out a couple of new capabilities for the Claude mobile app, bringing nearby location search and more.

With these new features, Claude recognizes the user request to search for a nearby location based on the query, including places. For instance, the AI can search for a restaurant and set an event or reminder.

Here’s a demo command.

“Help me find time for lunch with Conor near the office this week. How about a good burger joint?”

This command will be followed by Claude’s response to checking your calendar for available dates for this week. The AI will then check for your location (permission required) to search for the related places.

It will then share the map locations on the screen, which you can tap and expand in Google Maps or Apple Maps with an on-screen option. The app will also suggest your top burger recommendations, as well as the time to reach the location.

Once selected, you can ask Claude to create an event on the Calendar to remind you about the meeting and also send a message to Conor, asking about the lunch at the selected location at the suggested time.

This update is now rolling out for iOS and Android users. You can get it via the App Store and Play Store, respectively.
