iOS 26 rolling out for iPhones with a brand new design

Apple is rolling out the iOS 26 software update for iPhone users across the globe. This new iOS version serves as the debut of a fresh design strategy to improve the user experience.

The biggest highlight of this year’s iOS is the liquid glass design, which changes the entire UI into a more transparent interface. Apple says that this new scheme provides a sense of fluidity, which can be experienced when you scroll through a list and the UI switches in real-time.

The road to liquid design started bumpy as the company had to fix some problems, including poor visibility. Developer beta testers reported issues such as too much transparency hindering the readability of foreground texts and blending UI layers. However, Apple was quick to address these problems in the test software by tweaking the glass transparency.

The lock screen in this new version has received a massive upgrade with a dynamic clock, which automatically adapts to the wallpaper and notifications. This new lock screen also shows a nice 3D effect when you move your iPhone.

iOS 18 has brought new icon themes, but iOS 26 will get you color-tinted icons blended with the transparent design. Users will see dynamic controls on all of the apps; the new liquid glass controls expand and retract with fluid animations for improved interactiveness.

One of my most beloved changes is coming to the camera app, which has decluttered the viewport and gets you to focus on the important thing. iOS 26 has a bunch of new features and upgrades for wearables, messaging, navigation, AI, and more.

Users can check for the latest update via Settings > General and Software Update. You can download and install the update right away or get it overnight. iOS 26 is rolling out for the following devices:
