xAI Grok Imagine 0.9 brings speed and quality improvements for AI video generation
xAI has released the 0.9 update for the Grok Imagine AI video generation feature. This is the first upgrade to the video generation feature, over the first version introduced in July this year.
Grok is an AI chatbot powered by Large Language Models. Initially, the bot was used to provide text conversation. However, the rapid development has enabled the company to seed advanced features, including image generation.
This year, xAI released two frontier models – Grok 3 and Grok 4. The latter was followed by Imagine, a new way to create AI-powered videos from the Grok application. The user needs to explain the instructions for image generation, select a preferred picture, and dub it into a video.

However, the 0.9 Grok Imagine update could be taken as a major leap in some aspects, including the generation speed. The most notable change is the video generation time, which is reduced from the Imagine 0.1. The video quality has been slightly improved and remains highly similar to the generated image compared to the more drastic transformation.
Still, the video length is short, but a future update might increase the ceiling up to a minute. However, that may require a major upgrade to the video generation model, which xAI has revealed to be working and could release by the end of the year.
xAI is rolling out the Grok Imagine 0.9 upgrade on App Store and Play Store; you can also experience similar changes on Grok.com.
