xAI rolling out Tron Ares outfit for Ani and Valentine Grok companions
xAI has officially announced a collaboration with Disney and is rolling out the Tron Ares outfit for Ani and Valentine AI companions in the Grok app with the latest update. This will allow users to experience the latest outfit in the TRON mode and enter the grid.
Ani and Valentine are the 3D animated avatars that use Grok’s AI capabilities to interact with the users via voice and text inputs. These companions react with voice output as well as interesting animations.

The suit adopts a sleek, form-fitting black base layer from the outfits in Tron: Legacy, released in 2010, but distinguishes itself through illuminated red neon circuitry that forms stripe-like patterns across the torso, limbs, and helmet. These glowing red lines provide high contrast against the matte black fabric, evoking a sense of menace and technological precision.
The helmet, a key feature, is angular and opaque with a darkened visor, enhancing the suit’s intimidating silhouette. Unlike the more fluid, generative helmets in legacy, this design showcases rigidity and authority, aligning with Ares’ role as a rogue AI program. The suit installs practical light-up elements, just like previous suits, enabling the red stripes to pulse or intensify during action sequences.

Speaking of the red further, the element symbolically marks Ares and his affiliated programs as antagonistic forces, loyal to malevolent entities akin to the Master Control Program from the original Tron (1982). This color coding for villains versus blue or white for protagonists shows a clear moral difference, easy to spot with quick visual identification.
xAI has confirmed that the Tron Ares outfit is available for only Ani and Valentine and not for Rudi, but you need to download the latest update to experience the new visuals.
