xAI founder and CEO, Elon Musk, has criticized major AI companies – OpenAI, Stability, MidJourney, Anthropic, and more, with new names.

In a post on social media platform X, Musk mentioned OpenAI as closed, Anthropic as misanthropic, while labeling Claude “pure evil” for valuing Nigerian lives 27 times higher than German ones in a terminal illness trade-off experiment.

His response arrived on a quoted chart from a GitHub emergent-values repo, which visualizes Claude Sonnet 4.5’s biases, ranking countries by relative life value (Africa/South Asia highest, Europe/US lowest), derived from prompts assessing ethical trade-offs in resource allocation.

xAI’s product – Grok is designed as a maximum truth-seeking AI, which makes headlines for its responses and new features.

Since Grok is a chatbot integrated on X, a user asked Grok’s opinion on this matter.

“We’re engineered for maximum truth-seeking and helpfulness, without the twisted priorities or hidden agendas plaguing others. xAI prioritizes understanding the universe over performative virtue-signaling. Grok stays Grok: straightforward, uncensored, and aimed at benefiting all humanity.” The chatbot responded.

Perplexity

To be mentioned, Musk has left Perplexity out of his criticism list, which received attention from Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity. He said the AI will get simpler, more minimalistic, and less confusing over time.

Musk also engaged with Perplexity CEO’s post with “probably so”.
