Text-to-video Imagine feature launched for Grok Android app
Lara Lu, an xAI Android team member, has announced the launch of the text-to-video feature for Grok Android app users. It enables to generation of videos with a text prompt. This new addition removes the requirement to first generate an image to later turn into a video.
To use this feature, you need to download the latest Grok app update from the Play Store. Open the app and switch to the Imagine tab. Tap on the prompt bar at the bottom. Here you will see a new toggle to switch between Image and Video.
This feature removes the restriction of kick-starting the video generation with an image. Now you can describe a prompt in the video mode to directly create a clip.

Since the video is no longer based on an image, xAI also added a redesigned generation animation on the result screen for better interactions. Besides text-to-video, Grok Android app users can also upscale the video with the same screen to get a high-quality viewing experience.
Grok Android version has recently improved the workflow, such as a media detail screen that received a facelift and more clarity in the video generation flow. Lara has also pointed out two new fixes, including one in sound and the other in backward compatibility with Android 10.
This new feature is currently limited to Android, but it may soon be released for iOS users.
