The European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) has announced its Best in Class vehicles for 2025, with Tesla Model 3 and Y receiving the top honors.

These awards recognize the safest cars tested during the year, based on a weighted score across four key areas: adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, vulnerable road user safety, and safety assist technologies. Only five-star-rated vehicles with standard equipment qualify.

The overall Best Performer is the Mercedes-Benz CLA, which also topped the Small Family Car category. It achieved strong results with 94% in adult occupant protection, 89% in child occupant, 93% in vulnerable road users, and 85% in safety assist.

In the City and Supermini class, the MINI Cooper E stood out, scoring 89% for adult occupants, 87% for children, 77% for vulnerable road users, and 79% for safety assist.

Tesla secured wins in two categories. The Model 3 was named best in the Large Family Car segment, with scores of 90% adult occupant, 93% child occupant, 89% vulnerable road users, and 87% safety assist.

The Model Y led the Small SUV category, earning 91% adult occupant, 93% child occupant, 86% vulnerable road users, and an impressive 92% in safety assist. The Polestar 3 took the Executive Car award, posting 90% adult occupant, 93% child occupant, 79% vulnerable road users, and 83% safety assist.

In the Large SUV class, the smart number 5 emerged as the winner with 88% adult occupant, 93% child occupant, 84% vulnerable road users, and 92% safety assist.

Euro NCAP noted a record number of tests in 2025, with many electric vehicles performing well. The awards highlight ongoing improvements in vehicle safety, particularly in advanced driver assistance systems.
