xAI releases read-aloud feature for Grok Android app

Grok just dropped a read-aloud feature for Android users. You can tap once, and any answer in chat gets spoken back to you in a clear, natural voice. You can ask a question while driving or cooking, and suddenly the response plays out loud, so you stay focused without staring at the screen.

It begins hands-free experience tasks like workouts, walks, or even bedtime wind-downs when eyes feel tired. Besides, xAI Founder and CEO, Elon Musk, has announced that Grok 4.20 beta 2 is coming this week. So, you can expect more improvements to the latest model.

This read-aloud sits right in the chat flow and covers everything from short replies to longer, detailed answers. You control it with play, pause, and stop in the conversation options.

Here is how you can use it. First, grab the latest Grok app from the Play Store and install any pending updates. Launch the app and jump into a chat or start a fresh one with whatever question comes to mind. Once Grok finishes its reply, look right next to the text for the little speaker icon.

Tap it, and the voice starts reading immediately. You will hear the full answer and can pause anytime by tapping again or adjust phone volume if needed. It works in the background even if you switch to another app, though keep the screen on for best results at first.
