iPhone 17e launched with MagSafe and 256GB base model
Today, Apple launched iPhone 17e, a new iPhone in the budget segment, bringing full MagSafe support for easy snap-on accessories and fast wireless charging. The iPhone 17e now starts with a base storage of 256G at $599.
The phone sports a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen that reaches 1200 nits peak brightness for sharp, vibrant views even in sunlight. Apple built it with a tougher Ceramic Shield 2 front that fights scratches three times better and cuts down glare.
Under the hood, this new iPhone has the A19 chip, built with advanced 3-nanometer tech. It delivers a six-core CPU that runs up to twice as fast as older models, plus a four-core GPU ready for smooth gaming and an upgraded Neural Engine to handle Apple Intelligence features.
On the back, a 48MP Fusion camera captures detailed shots at full resolution or defaults to crisp 24MP files. It includes optical-quality 2x zoom, strong low-light performance, and Portrait mode that now recognizes pets for easy edits later.
In the video segment, iPhone 17e users can record 4K Dolby Vision at 60 frames per second and handy tools like Audio Mix for cleaning up sound. Battery life is also improved compared to the last generation, while a new C1X modem uses less energy and delivers faster connectivity.
Interestingly, MagSafe now charges wirelessly at up to 15W, and the USB-C port tops off the battery to 50 percent in about 30 minutes with a compatible adapter. Customers can pick from black, white, or soft pink finishes with a clean matte look. This iPhone also adds satellite connectivity for emergencies, an Action button for quick shortcuts, and tough IP68 protection inside an aerospace-grade aluminum body.
The device ships with iOS 26 with improved cooling and task execution efficiency, thanks to hardware tweaks that match higher-end performance in key areas. Pre-orders opening on March 4 at 6:15 a.m. Pacific, with units hitting stores on March 11 in more than 70 countries.
