The foldable iPhone is all set to enter mass production in July this year, reports TheLec, and it’s confirmed that major issues are now being resolved to make its September launch possible.

The report mentioned that the foldable iPhone has completed all of the pre-mass production requirements. That includes parts, display panel quality verification, and key components that are required for the assembly process. Speaking of which, the assembly will be carried by Foxconn in the initial delivery phase, and the earliest production could start by the end of next month.

Apple and Foxconn have a long-standing production partnership, and it’s trusting the supplier once again to do its fine work on a device that could make or break for Apple in the foldable device category.

The Cupertino-based tech company has also approved OLED foldable display panels produced by Samsung. The crease-free design has received permission for at least 3 million units, and it will be the sole supplier for the next three years.

The initial production goal has not been announced, but that highly depends on an important component – Hinge. It connects the two halves of the foldable device and provides opening and closing operations. This functionality is what makes the foldable phones differnet form the traditional bar-type devices.

That brings us to the issue, which is holding Apple back in the verification phases. The source confirmed that even after testing the closing and opening sequence many times, the hinge is still showing signs that might eventually end up harming this iPhone’s hardware.

However, Apple’s engineers are working on a solution for this problem, and it’s expected that the foldable iPhone will meet mass production in July, followed by the launch in September.
