Medical equipment technology company, Masimo is spending about $100 million in a legal battle against Apple.

A ban by the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) on Apple Watches made headlines throughout the past month.

In this entire case, Masimo blames Apple has infringing its technological patent rights by equipping its key feature in smartwatches. This led to a ban by ITC on the latest Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 Watch.

However, Apple temporarily paused this ban with an appeal at the Court of Appeals. Thereafter, Apple resumed online and offline sales of these two watch models.

In an interview with WSJ, Masimo CEO, Joe Kiani mentioned that the entire fight cost Masimo around $100 million. Amid this expenditure, Masimo’s chief wants to continue this battle against the world’s largest tech firm.

He further explained his stand in this matter.

“People were telling me I’m crazy and I can’t go against Apple,” Kiani expressed while describing Apple with “unlimited resources”.

For now, the matter is pending at the Court of Appeals and has a deadline to find a conclusion by this month.
