Tesla dominates the electric vehicle (EV) market in Norway for 2023 with a staggering performance for the third year in a row.

According to the registration data from Tuesday, five out of six new cars sold in Norway were powered by batteries. Among these, Tesla raised its market share to 20% from 12.2% a year earlier.

What’s more interesting is that the country keeps on pushing its electric vehicle pursuit forward with EVs now accounting for 82.4% of the overall new vehicles delivered throughout the last year. This is an increase of 79.3% from 2022.

To reduce engine vehicles, and achieve an EV-only vehicle industry, Norway is exempting new EV sales from many taxes.

This mid-size SUV has garnered big sales for the American EV maker and has become the most popular car in this Nordic market.

For next year’s projection, the country’s electric cars could increase to 95% in 2024. With that being said, Tesla could further increase its lead in Norway with more sales heading its way despite some backlash from the neighboring country.
