Automaker Lucid is recalling over 2,000 units of Air Luxury electric vehicles due to potential faults in early production models that could compromise driver’s vision.

According to the information, Lucid Air may have faulty High Voltage Coolant Heaters (HVCH), which are used to supply warm air to heat the cabin and defrost the cabin.

Other than this, the faulty HVCH units can overheat, potentially leading to fire or thermal events. This poses a safety risk to occupants and nearby people. That’s not it, HVCH could cause electrical shocks.

Lucid Air Luxury sedans ranging from 2022 and 2023 are part of this recall.

“Lack of defrost capability poses a safety risk due to a possibility of obstructed driver vision,” Lucid said in a recall report on Friday, adding that the HVCH were supplied by German company Webasto AG (via Yahoo).

Lucid will address this issue with a software update that rollout over the air by this month and it will mainly identify the issue. Subsequently, the update will bring a warning for the drivers if the component has failed.

If so, these faulty models will receive a free HVCH replacement at Lucid service centers.
