SpaceX will launch 22 Starlink satellites on January 13, 2024 [Updated]

Update 1 – Due to uncertain weather conditions, SpaceX postponed the mission to January 12.

On January 11, 2024, SpaceX is aiming to fly the Falcon 9 reusable rocket with a payload carrying 22 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

This launch is scheduled for 12:59 a.m. PT. and there’s a backup launch opportunity on the next day at the same time window.

The booster rocket supporting this mission is completing its 18th flight and previously participated in important launches including:

• Crew-2
• SXM-8
• CRS-23
• IXPE
• Transporter-4
• Transporter-5
• Globalstar FM15
• ISI EROS C-3
• Korea 425
• Seven Starlink missions

After hot staging, SpaceX will land on the first stage booster back on a droneship stationed in the Pacific Ocean at around 8:28 minutes into the mission.

Afterward, the 2nd stage will carry out the rest of the mission and complete the deployment of the satellites at around 1 hour of the launch.

Last week, SpaceX deployed 23 Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit. It was a follow-up mission to the Falcon 9’s Ovzon 3 satellite from January 3.
