iPhones stops downgrading from iOS 17.3

Apple has stopped signing the iOS 17.2.1 software update and subsequently halted downgrading iPhones from iOS 17.3. This software was released recently with new security features including Stolen Device Protection.

iOS 17.2.1 is no longer being signed following the January 22 release of iOS 17.3. However, it’s a usual process for the iPhone maker and it stops giving old builds to send all users forward to the latest software release.

This also helps the user to fetch the new features instead of allowing them to revert to outdated firmware.

iOS 17.3 has improved iPhone’s security with Stolen Device Protection and Apple ID by requiring Face ID or Touch ID with no passcode fallback to complete device authentication.

Its security delay requires Face ID or Touch ID which is an hour of wait and then an additional biometric authentication to access sensitive information such as stored passwords and bank credentials.

The build carries new Unity wallpaper as well as collaborative playlists for Apple Music. This feature lets you invite friends to join your playlist and allow them to add, reorder, and remove songs.

There are more new changes in this new iOS 17.3 and the iPhone would become more secure.
