Hyundai has signed an agreement to supply all-electric light commercial vehicles for the Iveco Group in Europe. These vehicles will use Hyundai’s eLCV platform.

Hyundai and Iveco have been collaborating on hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles since March 2022. This collaboration led to the co-development of eDaily CEV and the launch of the E-Way FCEV city bus.

This new agreement takes partnership further for electric vehicles.

Hyundai’s all-electric light commercial vehicle (eLCV) platform is designed for commercial vehicles ranging from GVW 2.5 tons to 3.5 tons. The platform equips new Hyundai technologies for BEVs with low-floor design for maximum cargo mobility.

“We believe our Global eLCV platform, coupled with Iveco Group’s expertise in the European market, will be a transformative force in the LCV market, contributing to the acceleration of a carbon-neutral future in Europe,” said Hyundai VP and Head of Global Commercial Vehicle at Hyundai Motor.

In terms of delivery, Hyundai will develop these new vehicles with IVECO-badged chassis cabs for the European market. Iveco Group will customize these vehicles in-house and distribute the complete vehicles through its sales channels.

The new Iveco vehicle with Hyundai’s eLCV platform will launch at the IAA Transportation 2024 event from September 16 to 22 in Hannover, Germany.

The agreement signing ceremony was held at Hyundai Motor headquarters in Seol, South Korea. It was attended by Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, Ken Ramírez, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Commercial Vehicle & Hydrogen Business at Hyundai Motor Company, Gerrit Marx, CEO of Iveco Group, and Luca Sra, President, Truck Business Unit, Iveco Group.

“The introduction of this new all-electric vehicle is particularly exciting for the European market, where urban and suburban distribution and delivery are crucial missions for logistics operators.” said the Iveco President.
