This year’s iPhone 16 could add a new button on the right side of the device to detect multiple levels of pressure to work similar to a DSLR capture button.

Input coming from a Weibo tipster suggests that the capture button’s main focus will be to trigger photo and video mode but with a pressure-sensitive touch system.

Users can add a little bit of force to the button to adjust the focus in the picture. This feature is something similar to a DSLR and mirrorless camera.

In action, a DSLR can focus with a half-press and capture the images with a full-press to capture a photograph. This new change suggests the iPhone’s approach to provide more photography-centric functionalities.

Previous information shows that the iPhone 16 could feature this new button on the right side of the frame.

The previous report shows that the new iPhone will equip a 48mp main camera with a SONY IMX 903 custom sensor. It has a 1/1.14-inch large bottom and uses a dual-layer transistor to process the pixels.

The camera sensor includes a 14-bit Analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for high-quality image data conversion and digital gain control (DCG) for better dynamic range and noise control. A large sensor takes more light in photographs and delivers bright images.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the iPhone 16 Pro series will equip a tetraprism (periscope) zoom camera which is currently only featured with the iPhone 15 Pro Max model.

The camera section also spots a 48MP 1/2.6-inch ultra-wide angle compared to the 12MP 1/3.6-inch ultra-wide used in the 15 Pro series.
