Four new electric vehicle (EV) chargers are now available at a Mirabito convenience store in Richmondvile, 50 miles west in Albany in Schoharie County.

These new chargers are installed under the U.S. Federal Highway Administration’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program.

NEVI provides funding to states to strategically deploy EV charging stations and create an interconnected network to improve the infrastructure.

Justin E. Driscoll, New York Power Authority President, and CEO praised the NEVI’s collaboration with the private sector to increase zero-emission transportation.

NEVI has issued $175 million for NY in funds for the next five years. The first installment of approximately $20 million was used to expand the EVolve network of chargers in collab with the NEVI fund’s mission.

NEVI’s first charger site opened in Kingston at the Bank of America site in December and a third site is destined for Essex County in Adirondack Park in spring. Richmondville’s charger is the fifth EVolve NY site and the second funded by NEVI.

The state will add more new chargers over the next two years in Paris in Oswego County, Ithaca in Tompkins County, and Bainbridge in Chenango County.

These will add 156 EVolve NY ports at 40 sites already located in major travel corridors and urban hubs. 30 of these ports will be located at 10 Mirabito stores by 2025.
