Apple rolls out iOS 17.4 beta 4 for public testers and developers

Apple today released iOS 17.4 beta 4 for the public and developers as we’re just a few weeks away from the official release of this software with EU-centric changes.

EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) is bringing some rules for big tech companies including Apple to open their closed-source app ecosystem for public developers. Following these stipulations, the iPhone maker has last month announced a major change in iOS, Safari web browser, and App Store.

These new changes will open a window for third-party app developers and how they could interact with the iPhone users in the region. Some of these key changes are a third-party app marketplace, a third-party payment gateway for in-app purchases, and the use of NFC in the banking sector.

EU said that the new step will allow developers interoperability with iPhone and iOS hardware and software features, access data, and analytics.

Apple has scheduled to release iOS 17.4 in early March and the update will come to 27 EU member countries. However, the global users will remain unaffected by these app-related changes.

Developers and public beta testers can open the Settings menu and then enter the General section. Tap on Software Update, from here you can opt-in for the public beta or developer beta based on your criteria.
