Tesla has condemned a suspected arson attack on its German electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facility which led to a major power cut.

Tesla on Tuesday published a statement on social media site X  sharing details on its employees and condemning the act.

“The safety of our more than 12,000 Tesla employees is our top priority and we are pleased that no one was injured in this attack. In addition to us, many other people in the region are affected by the power outage and we condemn this reckless attack,” said Tesla.

This power cut is a result of an electricity-pylon fire directed at the Tesla manufacturing factory but also affected nearly 2,000 households in the area, reports local media.

Meanwhile, Tesla has halted production and evacuated its employees from the facility.

Police have started an investigation into this matter and the management is fixing the electricity supply. However, it is expected that the power outage could remain for a week at maximum if not fixed early.

The EV company also said that it would resume operations as soon as possible.

“We will not allow criminal offenses and acts of terrorism to deter us from our mission to accelerate the transition to renewable energy and will restart the factory as soon as possible and resume full production at the factory.” wrote the company.

Elon Musk CEO of Tesla also called these attackers “dumbest”.

Federal Interior Minister Nancy (SPD) on Tuesday called for a comprehensive clarification, saying that such an attack on electricity infrastructure is a serious crime “that cannot be justified by anything”.

More details about this matter are likely to be uncovered soon.
