Tesla CEO, Elon Musk said that all of the eligible cars in the US will get an FSD driving technology trial for one month. This is a big announcement coming from the Tesla Chief as the company is taking a new step to shape FSD’s future.

Earlier today, Musk’s email surfaced online, asking employees to give a free FSD 12 drive to new customers. Suggestions from the Tesla community followed closely including a free trial.

Tesla’s CEO fast-tracked those suggestions and made this happen.

According to Musk, the new FSD trial will be available for a month starting this week but there are some questions. That includes which Tesla Model Autopilot hardware will be supported or which models will qualify for the trials.

FSD or Full Self Driving enables Tesla vehicles to drive themselves in any given traffic condition with minimal driver interventions. In addition to autopilot and enhanced autopilot, FSD also includes autosteer on city streets and traffic and stop sign control. However, FSD does not make the car fully autonomous technology and does require the driver’s attention all the time.

The latest version 12 of FSD Beta has major improvements over its predecessor including an end-to-end neural network. The company has removed a majority of manual code from FSD and trained its system with millions of driving video clips.

Musk recently said that Tesla has improved the driving experience dramatically and now FSD is “no longer AI training compute constrained”. This achievement allows fast development of AI models and helps to process a wide range of training data such as raw video clips.

This would eventually improve the driving experience by adapting more scenarios and driving capabilities.
