This year Apple will introduce major AI integration in its iOS operating system and new information reveals that new AI stuff may also come for the App Store.

Ben Reitzes, Melius Research Chief of Technology told CNBC that Apple is working on new AI technologies that will be introduced for the App Store in June. Over the past years, Apple released new software technologies at its annual WWDC conference around June and this may not be different.

This developer event will lay the foundation for AI technologies and a future roadmap for Apple’s AI app ecosystem says Reitzes.

Reports suggest that Apple is talking to Google and OpenAI for a potential partnership on a large language model (LLM). The company wants to use an out-of-the-box LLM solution for its upcoming iOS 18 software.

Apple is also preparing its features for on-device AI supported by the new A18 Pro chipset. While one of the service providers (Google or OpenAI) will manage its cloud-based AI integration.

That may not be the only aim Apple is pursuing according to the Melius Research chief. He explained that the iPhone maker wants to achieve a new milestone in the AI industry by providing a platform to achieve growth with their new AI-powered apps.

Reitzes predicts that the iPhone 17 will equip an improved software and hardware combination to process fast AI tasks on-device. These new changes will be reflected in system apps and Siri voice assistant.

Earlier this year, Tim Cook, CEO of Apple also said that the company will pull a major surprise in AI later this year.
