Kia America registers high growth in first quarter 2024

Kia America has shared its business results for the first quarter of 2024 with an 88 percent jump in electric vehicle (EV) sales compared to the past year.

Kia says March leads its first-quarter sales numbers with an overall of 69,472 units. Electric models increased by 9 percent in March compared to 2023. EV sales from January to March 31 increased by 151 percent in comparison to the previous year.

Kia’s utility vehicle saw a 9 percent increase compared to last year and accounted for 79 percent of total sales.

Three Kia Models including Forte, Sportage, and Telluride contributed sales count and each of them accounted for more than 10,000 units in March alone. The newly released Sorento also achieved 28 percent growth in the last month compared to the same period last year.

Eric Watson, Vice President, Sales Operations said EV9 three-row electric SUV is making good sales in the segment. Kia sold 1,281 EV9 in March and 4,007 through the first quarter.

The EV6 on the other hand accounted for 1,537 units in March 2024 compared to 988 units in March 2023. Its first-quarter sales were 4,059 units compared to 3,392 units in the previous year.
