Rivian Charger Reliability Score

Rivian today launched a new Charger Reliability Score feature for Rivian R1S and R1T vehicles via the over-the-air (OTA) software update.

When a Rivian driver plugs into a fast charger on any network including Tesla Superchargers, the vehicle logs relevant data such as the charger’s average top speed, payment success, and overall charge session success.

When a charger is used by Rivian drivers multiple times, the company will assign a reliability score from A to F based on the performance factor and user satisfaction. The A rating represents the highest and F shows the lowest reliability score.

This charging score functionality is now integrated into the trip planner app. It will give the Rivian users ease of access while choosing a charger.

The app will show charger performance and related ratings based on your desired arrival range and preferred charging networks. It will also prioritize fast-charging locations with better scores for good user experience.

The Rivian app will show the reliability score in several places throughout the app’s user interface (UI). Tap on the charging site icon from within the map on the Rivian app. The center display of the vehicle or within a trip plan.

You will see the charging network name, address, reliability score, and maximum charging speed. It will also reveal real-time information about the number of chargers in use wherever available.

You need to tap the arrow next to the charging network name to show hours of operation. Rivian revealed that the average charging speed is based on actual plug-in data, site details, and pricing information.

The app will share your vehicle’s maximum charging speed. Go to the information (i) icon next to the charging site speed.

Some of these sites don’t have a charging reliability score yet. It may increase as more Rivian owners plug vehicles into those chargers and provide data on the charging performance.
