Tesla said full self-driving (FSD) 12 could be ready for release in left-hand drive (LHD) countries. This may indicate that the company may seed this FSD version to European markets.

FSD provides supervision to Tesla cars and drives automatically using the camera, sensors, and artificial intelligence (AI). The FSD 12 enables an end-to-end neural network for a smart driving experience. There’s an issue with its smart maneuvers in Europe. The current EU regulations don’t allow these system-powered maneuvers from the Supervised FSD system due to regulations.

This is related to the Driver Control Assistance Systems (DCAS) regulations rules from the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). This guideline is more supportive of self-driving cars but doesn’t address this technology in particular including the system-initiated maneuvers. Overall, it is holding Tesla from releasing Supervised FSD in Europe.

Richard Fredriksson, a senior advisor at the Swedish Transport Administration shared a post on LinkedIn and revealed that he received a Tesla FSD demo in Germany. He was quite impressed with this technology and its on-drive user experience. Fredriksson was accompanied by Tesla executives through a demo drive.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla has posted a reply to this report, saying that the FSD 12 supervised is ready to ship to LHD countries. Most of the European market has an LHD system including Germany. Therefore, we could expect that the company may be able to push this FSD for European users in the future.

He also mentioned that the right-hand drive (RHD) version of supervised FSD may take some time.
