Ford is preparing to build a new electric car at its Valencia plant in Spain starting in 2027. The move reflects another step in Ford’s change of course in electric cars for Europe.

It is reported that Ford is considering making a new multi-energy passenger car in Spain. The specifications and design of this car remain unknown at the moment.

It is speculated that Ford could ramp up the plant’s production capacity up to 300,000 units per year. This increase will depend on the new model and the company is sure the release will bring workload at the plant and prepare it for future production.

Valencia plant has been at the center of Ford’s electric vehicle manufacturing strategy for the European market. In 2022, Ford announced that this plant would host next-gen EV architecture. Back then, it aimed for 600,000 electric sales per year.

However, the automaker pushed back its plans in the EV segment with the shift in market demand and manufacturing cost.
