Full size Hyundai Genesis GV90 electric SUV to launch in 2025
Premium Hyundai Motor car brand, Genesis is set to release its first full-size electric sport utility vehicle GV90 late next year. This model is aimed at increasing Hyundai’s share in the premium vehicle segment.
The South Korean automaker could start GV90’s production at the new EV manufacturing platform in December 2025. It has sent a request for quotation (RFQ) to its major supply chain partners for new EVs including GV90. This model will be based on Hyundai’s new EV platform called “eM” reports KEDglobal.
Here are some of the annual production volumes mentioned in RFQ:
- 210,000 units for GV90
- 68,000 units for GV80
- 40,000 for GV70
- 51,000 for GV80
That’s not it, Hyundai plans to broaden the eM EV platform with the release of four new models. These cars have a projected production of 1,132,000 units and ranging release dates from 2025 to 2033.
Hyundai Motor Group, comprising Hyundai Motor, Kia, and Genesis automotive brands, is aggressively increasing its EV portfolio. This reflects its aim to become the top EV maker by the end of this decade.
Design
The upcoming Genesis GV90 will use the flagship Neolun concept design, introduced at the New York International Auto Show in March. It has Neolun coach doors without B-pillars to connect the body and roof of the vehicle. The interior layout targets more room passenger room and comfort. Interestingly, the SUV will bring electric side steps, which automate accordingly when the door opens and closes.
Hyundai also hyped technology for its full-size EV called the “Korean Floor Heating System”. The radiant heating system enables efficient heat management in the vehicle. It works with heating films applied throughout the dashboard, door trims, floor, seatbacks, and console sides.
The analyst believes that the new Genesis GV90 will provide a solid ground for Hyundai to achieve growth in electric cars as there are no fully electric full-size SUVs available in the market.
